Services Provided

Marriage Contract

The couple composes a personalized Nikah contract before the wedding date that addresses various aspects of their marriage and delineates the qualities they strive to uphold as righteous spouses. Our team guides our couples in the process and reviews the contract to ensure all requirements are fulfilled in accordance with the Islamic tradition.

Marriage Sermon

The "khutbah" is the most joyous and intimate part of the ceremony. Our officiants deliver a unique sermon that highlights each couple's personal narrative within an Islamic perspective. Each couple has the opportunity to contribute to how the sermon is addressed and what topics are covered by the officiant. We pride ourselves on our ability to effectively speak to crowds of various cultures, faiths and backgrounds.

Nikah Ceremony

“Nikah” is the Arabic word for marriage. The Nikah ceremony encompasses the signing of the marriage contract, the khutbah (marriage sermon), and the verbal agreement to marry between the bride and groom. The officiant will make sure the Islamic requirements for a marriage are fulfilled, while maintaining the integrity of our couples' expectations.

Marriage License Support (a marriage license is required)

MWS also provides support to couples to fill out and complete their marriage license forms. Barring extremely unique circumstances, MWS does require a couple to get legally married (either anytime before or at the time of the nikah ceremony) in order for the nikah to be performed.

Additional Services: Counseling

At MWS, we recommend all of our couples go through premarital counseling. Our partner organization, The Khalil Center, has provided quality counseling for thousands of couples. You can browse their website and request an appointment here. For any questions, feel free to call them at 630-474-4414 or email them at info@khalilcenter.com.

Cost

The total price for our in-person services starts at $950 plus travel expenses. Our virtual nikah services start at $500. These prices are inclusive of the honorarium given to the officiant as well as MWS’ administrative costs. Additionally, our goal is to provide this service as a community-based initiative and in doing so, that means donating a portion of our profits  to the Islamic Center of NYU, which in turn meets the needs of our community members domestically and donates to philanthropic causes worldwide.
